Transition to Boston

Husky 101

Upon successful completion of the program, students will be invited to attend Husky 101 Boston Orientation and receive ongoing support as they transition into academic and social life in Boston. This orientation occurs in the summer before their second year, orienting students to the Boston campus. Once students arrive in Boston, there will be coordinated efforts to continue to keep them engaged in campus life. Information about Husky 101 will be emailed to students during the summer before their second year.

Housing in Boston

We are pleased to be able to offer students who complete the 2026–2027 New York City Scholars program guaranteed university housing during their second year in Boston, provided they meet the required application and deposit deadlines. Students will have the ability to choose between applying for university housing or opting to live off campus.

The university housing process for second-year students begins in mid-December. Please note that university housing for all students — including students completing the New York City Scholars program — can take the form of traditional campus residence halls, semi-private suite-style buildings, and leased apartments in the area around campus.

Opens mid-December

As students start to make these choices and applications become available, more information will be provided by the New York City Scholars program, Housing and Residential Life, and Off Campus Engagement and Support so students can make the best personal choice for housing for the 2026–2027 academic year in Boston.

Co-op Eligibility

New York City Scholars participants are able to take part in co-op. All Northeastern students, regardless of signature program, must take Northeastern’s co-op preparation course in their second year. New York City Scholars typically can complete their first co-op as early as the first semester of their third year at Northeastern. The independence and maturity built during the New York City Scholars program provide a unique advantage and skillset that make students competitive in the job market.
